1. Who we are
This website is operated by the Data Migration Matters conference team. For data protection enquiries, contact us at contact@datamigrationmatters.com.
2. What data we collect
We collect personal data only when you actively provide it through our forms:
- Registration interest form - name, work email, organisation, job title, and ticket quantity estimate
- Call for Papers form - name, email, organisation, job title, session proposal, and speaker bio
- Newsletter / Footer form - email address
We do not set tracking or analytics cookies. We do not use third-party advertising platforms.
3. How we use your data
- To contact you about your registration interest or speaking submission
- To send you conference updates and announcements (where you have opted in)
- To process and respond to your enquiries
We will not use your data for any other purpose without your explicit consent.
4. Legal basis
We process personal data on the basis of:
- Legitimate interest - responding to direct enquiries and registration expressions of interest
- Consent - newsletter subscription (opt-in, unsubscribe at any time)
5. Data sharing
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties, except:
- Netlify - our hosting provider, who processes form submissions on our behalf. Netlify's servers are located in the EU and US. See Netlify's GDPR information.
- Legal obligations - if required by law or regulatory authority
6. Google Fonts
We use Google Fonts to display the Inter typeface. Google Fonts is only loaded after you give explicit cookie consent. If you decline, the site falls back to system fonts. See Google's privacy policy.
7. Data retention
We retain contact data for no longer than is necessary for the purpose it was collected. Registration interest data is deleted within 12 months of the relevant conference edition. You may request deletion at any time.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent at any time (for newsletter subscriptions)
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@datamigrationmatters.com. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date.
