About DMM
The only annual conference exclusively dedicated to enterprise data migration as a professional discipline.
Why Data Migration Matters
Enterprise data migration is one of the most technically demanding, strategically significant, and chronically underestimated disciplines in IT. Projects run late, over budget, or fail entirely, not because the technology is wrong, but because the methodology, governance, and planning are inadequate.
Data Migration Matters exists to change that. By bringing together the people who plan, deliver, and oversee major migration programmes, alongside the vendors who support them, DMM creates a focused, high-trust environment for knowledge sharing, debate, and professional development.
There is no equivalent event. DMM is the forum.
Who attends
The signature format
Every DMM edition follows a proven structure that maximises value for delegates with limited time:
- Morning keynote plenary - a full-room session setting the tone and framing the year's key themes
- Parallel tracks - separate executive and technical programmes running concurrently, so every delegate can follow the path most relevant to them
- Hands-on demo room - a structured, non-sales environment to see migration tooling in action
- Breakout workshops - small-group, interactive sessions on specialist topics
- Expert panel debate - the DMM tradition: an unscripted, audience-led debate on the pressing questions of the day
- Wine reception - informal close-of-day networking that consistently receives the highest delegate satisfaction scores
The PDM connection
Data Migration Matters was founded by Johny Morris, author of Practical Data Migration (British Computer Society) and creator of the PDM methodology, the most widely recognised structured framework for enterprise data migration.
PDM underpins the conference intellectually. Sessions are grounded in practical, replicable methodology rather than anecdote. Speakers are expected to share transferable knowledge, not vendor positioning.
