Why Data Migration Matters
Enterprise data migration is one of the most technically demanding, strategically significant, and chronically underestimated disciplines in IT. Projects run late, over budget, or fail entirely, not because the technology is wrong, but because the methodology, governance, and planning are inadequate.
Data Migration Matters exists to change that. By bringing together the people who plan, deliver, and oversee major migration programmes, alongside the vendors who support them, DMM creates a focused, high-trust environment for knowledge sharing, debate, and professional development.

Organised by Practical Data Migration
Data Migration Matters is organised and run by Practical Data Migration (PDM), the community-governed organisation behind the PDM methodology. The conference is managed by the PDM Events Committee, one of six subcommittees that drive the organisation's work.
DMM was founded by Johny Morris, author of Practical Data Migration (British Computer Society), and is where practitioners who use the PDM methodology come together to share real-world experience, challenge each other, and advance the discipline.
The conference is grounded in sound methodology, not vendor positioning. Speakers are expected to share transferable, experience-based knowledge. Whether you are a seasoned PDM practitioner, new to the methodology, or simply committed to doing data migration properly, DMM is your event.
